The interior design world offers a bevy of inspiration for homes of all shapes and sizes, and with a new year just around the corner, there’s certain to be a whole host of new décor trends to experiment with.

As the way to find a local decorator with the right skills at the right price, we thought now would be a great time to reveal the trends that have all our decorators talking…

Back to basics

In most cases, the simplest schemes are the best, and 2022 will be all about going back to basics. Blacks, whites, greys and muted tones are set to be big news in the coming months, with these simple and sophisticated shades certain to remain on trend for a very long time.

These basic colours are great for spaces that all the family use, like the living room, dining area and kitchen, creating that tranquil, comfortable vibe that’s always sought after at home.

Curves for days

When choosing the furniture to complete your new home décor look, think soft and shapely. Rounded furniture and accessories are in for 2022, so go curvy with your sofas, lamps, tables, vases and candlesticks.

The outdoors in

Nature inspired design has been popular for a number of years and this will continue into 2022. Even if the weather isn’t its best outdoors, you can still experience all the beauty that nature has to offer in your home courtesy of some carefully chosen greenery.

House plants are a great look for the home, and even better for your health. They purify the air so you and your family can breathe more easily. As well as live plants, experiment with wood and dried arrangements to add something extra special to every room.

Eco-friendly materials

Going greener doesn’t just come down to your choice of foliage. The materials that make up your furniture and accessories should be equally as eco-friendly.

When shopping for your home in 2022, think sustainable. Reclaimed wood, recycled metal, bamboo, bio-glass, jute and seagrass are all great eco alternatives. They’ll reduce your home’s carbon footprint and they look pretty fabulous too!

Touchable softness

We mentioned using softer shapes, so it makes perfect sense to go touchably soft with your materials too. Velvet will be a hot interior trend for 2022, and whether you go bright and bold or subtle and romantic with your colour choice, this material has the power to add optimum glamour to any space.
